Upgrade vs. Full version of FrontPage 2003

I have FrontPage 2000 and want to upgrade to 2003, I see the upgrade disc
cost about $172.00 and a full version of FrontPage 2003 cost about $145.00.

I assume there must be a good reason the upgrade cost so much more. Is
there? Does the upgrade offer more features? Or is the full version just a
better deal?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. My web site can't be changed now
because of the FrpntPage extensions. I need 2003 to be able to publish my
site via FTP.

The reason is probably because FP 2003 is officially discontinued and MS is
not making discs anymore. It's been replaced by Expression Web. I think what
you're seeing is the full version has been discounted from it's original
price to get rid of it, and the upgrade disc is actually being inflated
because it's hard to find.

Of course, you could use a third-party FTP utility to publish the site
instead as that would be far cheaper (and you can download a free trial of
most FTP apps).

Hope this helps,

I have installed Filezilla on my PC and my wife's. AFAIK, it is totally
free.

It works fairly well, the only complaint being that it disconnects after 300
seconds, whether or not it is uploading or downloading. The transfer
continues; one just needs to reconnect - a single click - to do any more.

But FTP is not a good idea if the site use FrontPage extensions. I guess the
safe thing would be to remove all these from one's site since many servers
are discontinuing use of FPSE

FWIW, still use FP upload. My wife uses FTP for her picture uploads

If your using ftp then it's a safe bet your not using many of the bots
(included work with or without fpse)

So why not upgrade to the lastest offering in web editors from Microsoft?

Expression Web 2.0

There is a 60 day trial .. why not check it out and if you don't like it you
can always try for fp03.
