Upgrade Works 8.0 to Office 97?

its_kristy

I bought a new computer with works 8.0 and a trial version of Office 2003.
Tried to install office 97 upgrade but it says there are no qualifying
products. I browsed to the Works folder but says still no qualifying
products. I thought maybe that the Office 2003 trial version was actually an
upgrade installation, perhaps preventing 2 different upgrades from working
from the same qualifying products. However, what I'm really thinking is that
Works 8.0 is actually a newer product than office 97 so perhaps it isn't
recognizing it or isn't compatible. Anyone have any wisdom? The box says
that "all works versions" are qualify, but I am assuming they meant "all
works version existing as of office 97 upgrade develpment date". A tech
article says the same thing here
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/158069/EN-US/

As a last resort, I tried reinstalling works 8.0 but get an error message
saying a file is missing. I didn't receive a works setup CD, however, I found
a works setup file resident on the hard drive. The missing file was not in
that setup file for some reason.

Hi Kristy
I think you'll find the Works 8 and Office are 2 entireley different
software programmes. I personally would go for the Office 2003 rather than
Works because it has more options and is more user friendly.

Well of course there aren't! Do use your brain! How can a *NEWER* version of
Works be a qualifying product for an *OLDER* version of Office?! What do you
think MS did - built a time machine and travelled forward to 2005 and saw
that some blonde bint called Kristy would want to use Works v8 as a QP?!
Were you born stupid - or was it a gradual process? Besides you require the
*ORIGINAL* qualifying product - if you don't have that, then the upgrade
licence is void.

I can see why you are so well liked on this board Miss Perspire. I think we
could all benefit from you leaving your ego and low-class behavior in the
teen chat room. if you think her thought process had no legitmacy then think
about how 2 excel users with 2 different versions can use and share the same
file. Seems like there is no time machine used there.

All versions of Works are qualifying products for the Office 97 upgrade.
