upgraded 2000 to 2003 with new 2003 CD can not do online upgrade

I had Office 2000 installed on my computer. Wanted to upgrade so I purchased
a new version of 2003 basic edition NOT THE UPGRADE. When installing the CD
it ask if I wanted to upgrade from 2000 to 2003 and defaulted to this
selection. I continued but now I can not update my 2003 on-line without my
2000 version CD which I do not have. Should I uninstall and start over with
complete new install of entire software to get rid all all 2000.

The office 2000 has not been complete removed from you computer. Check the
Add/remove programs and remove if Office 2000 is in the list. If you are
not able to remove it from Add/Remove programs. download msicuu2.exe from
microsoft website and remove office 2000.
