Upgraded from OE to OL2003 now rules do not work correctly

Let me clarify...the message rules never worked all that well in Outlook
Express. Some of the rules had similar qualifiers (such as [sports-baseball]
and [sports-basketball] ) and often all the messages from either [sports]
would end up in the same folder and sometimes not get moved at all (the rule
was to move the message to a specific folder). In Outlook 2003 it is still
doing that, only in different ways.

But my main issue with OL2003 is this: Most of my message rules are
designed to move messages to their particular folder. I have a couple rules
designed to both move and forward, but no rules to copy. Some of my message
are not getting MOVED, they are getting COPIED...and this is a new thing
since upgrading to OL2003...this never happened in OE. I even deleted one of
the offending rules and recreated it from scratch in OL2003...with the same
end result of copied messages.

I have one POP3 account (a yahoo account) and am running McAfee AV, WinXPsp2.

Ask once and wait for the answer. Posting more than once doesn't increase
your chances of getting an answer.

If your rules are producing copies, then chances are you've neglected to
include the "stop processing more rules" action on the rules.

Outlook is not an "upgrade" for Outlook Express. They're completely
different programs with completely different behaviors. Trying to use one
to predict the behavior of the other is pointless and doomed to failure.

If you have Norton scanning your incoming (or outgoing) mail, you may wind
up experiencing many more problems.

The duplicate post was a mistake. The MS message boards here are more
awkward to use than others I have used. There does not seem to be a way to
delete an accidental post.

Thanks, I'll look into that one.

Then maybe OE should be called Internet Explorer Mail Express. I am so
frustrated with Outlook right now (it seems to be causing system crashes) I
am thinking of either going back to OE or maybe try Thunderbird.

I have never used Norton. And the email scanning feature of McAfee, I turned
that of f long ago.

Consider using a newsreader instead of the web interface.

Outlook Express _used_ to be called Microsoft Internet Mail and News (which
explains why the image file is still msimn.exe. Many people think is was a
mistake for Microsoft to rename it.
