Upgraded MS Home and Student to Professional

We Office Home and Student installed on 3 computers but I am thinking of
upgrading to Office Professional on my computer because I need the access and
publisher programs. What I want to know is can I install Office for Home and
Student on another computer once I have done the upgrade. My son has just
bought a new PC and it only has MS works on it so this would be the best
solution for my household if we are allowed to do it.

Yes, but only if you buy a FULL version of Office Professional. If you buy
the UPGRADE version, then the Home and Student Licence on that machine
becomes part of the Professional Licence and cannot be used elsewhere...

I was pretty sure that would be the answer but wanted to check before we
start buying the wrong software.
Thanks for getting back to me so quickly.

No, the MS Office Home and Student is PART of the resultant license in
an Upgrade, so you can't have 4 installs, only 3 the 2 remaining H and S
plus the Upgraded H and S. Your other option is to buy yourself a retail
copy of office Pro, and then move an install of H and S to your sons PC.

And if you do install the Office Pro program you may want to uninstall the
Home and Student version from that computer before you install the Pro
upgrade (using the H & S DVD as the upgrade qualifier) or you MAY be stuck
with a logo on all the programs that says for non-commercial use.

Good call - I'd forgotten that....
