upgraded office97 to XP Pro +no longer have address book and saved e-mails

I have just upgraded from Win office 97 to Win office
XP PRO. I blindly thought that me address bok and saved e-
mails from 97 would be automatically carried over to
Outlook 2002......dumb presumption on my part. I want to
know can I still access/view these. Even better still are
they recoverable so that I can import them to Outlook
2002. I have searched the MS knowledge Base Article area
and come up with 2 articles i.e. 299008 (Q299008) and
288442 (Q288442) but I am still unsure if these apply to
my situation. My OS is XP, Can anyone please help me
with this dilemma. THANKS HEAPS for any replies.....Peter

Turn on the option to search hidden and system files. Then look for a file
with the .pst extension (can be several if you used archiving.)

Note the location and then open Outlook and use the File->Open->Outlook Data
Files. Open the .pst and then drag and drop the items into your current
..pst file. Once you have all of your data in the new file, right click on
the Outlook Date File and select "Close."
