Upgraded Outlook 2003 cannot connect to server

I used Outlook 2002 on my WinXP box to connect to my work e-mail. I
upgraded to Outlook 2003. Now when I start Outlook 2003, it brings up a
box about converting my Outlook stuff and tries connecting to the work
server. It gives an error message about being unable to find the servers
and then closes. The servers are available. I can connect fine from
another PC. There is no desktop icon for me to right-click on to get to
the properties. Any suggestions?

Not sure whar you mean by "get the properties." But if you mean the properties where you set the POP3 and SMTP or even Exchange try this.

Start | Control Panel | Mail | Email Accounts | Either a new or an existing Email. Here you can set the POP3 the SMTP and Exchange accounts. Scout around in these options you will find what you need to set up your accounts and test them to make sure you have entered the info correctly.

If this is an upgrade, try creating a new mail profile.

Thanks. I'll give that a try. Unfortunately a response from work said
that our e-mail servers are not (yet) compatible with Outlook 2003.

The company servers did require an upgrade to support Outlook 2003. As
of Sunday night I can now connect using 2003. It is quite a bit better
than O2002. Thanks all for the support.

That is really strange. You see all Microsoft Oiutlook does is query the POP3 server over port 110 I believe it is. So what's on the other end really shouldn't matter. I believe you were having trouble with Exchange. You should have had no issue with communicating with the server over POP3 protocol. If it was to Exchange then I can understand why they may have had to "upgrade." But a simple Outlook 2003 to an ISPs POP3 server should not have required any "upgrade" behavior on the ISPs part.

Glad it all has worked out for you.
