I upgraded from FP 98 to FP 2003 and -- as evidenced by my many recent
posts -- I have had some simple problems. I have now solved most problems.
So far I have figured out:
-- How to prepare a new page for the web, link it to the table of contents,
and publish the changes.
-- How to change the remote site (File>Open Site; click on "Remote Web" at
the bottom, the click on "Remote Web Properties" at the top.
-- How to synch the web on the HD with the live web.
Here is the problem I still cannot solve.
I maintain three webs:
domain1.org
domain2.org
domain3.com
I signed up for hosting for domain3.com and the host is not yet ready for me
to publish -- should be able to publish in a couple of days.
I synchronized domain1.org last night -- synched the web on the HD with the
live web -- required 2 hours with a broadband connection (Is this normal?).
It must have worked because my live web, when viewed via a browser, has a
slightly different look but it's all there and everything works -- the
slightly different look is the way the FP 2003 themes look versus the FP 98
themes.
I have not yet synched domain2.org between HD and live web. HERE IS THE
PROBLEM.
I have opened several files (pages) on domain2.org from the HD. On pages
that have bulleted or numbered lists, or that have quotes, the text in the
list or in the quote shows on the screen like this:
The following is a quote from domain2.org:
"The
text
inside
the
quotation
marks
is
displayed
like
this
with
one
word
on
each
line."
After the closing quotation mark, or after the last item on the numbered or
bulleted list, text returns to normal.
A bulleted or numbered list shows up like this:
1) The
text
following
the
numbers
or
bullets
displays
like
this.
2)The
text
following
the
numbers
or
bullets
displays
like
this.
After the last number or bullet, the text returns to normal.
I have checked a dozen or so pages with quotes or numbered/bulleted lists
and every one of them does this.
What's going on? This DOES NOT occur when I view domain1.org or domain2.com
pages in FP 2003.
I am reluctant to sych domain2.org because I am concerned that this funny
text display will publish to the live web.
Thanks.
