MSPub2003 freezes when I try to upload to ftp server. I get a freeze-up. I
read FAQ and have moved straddling images onto the page area (listed as a
possible problem) and also turned the sub-folder option off (listed as other
possible problem). I have given up on my local ISP, who provides free web
hosting, as being able to fix the problem, so I'm on my own. I am using XP
Home with SP2.
My preferred method of uploading is to use File>Publish to Internet>My
Network Places. The freeze-up begins when I click the Save button and Pub
tries to convert the document to html. This takes an abnormally long time.
Once the saving to ftp site begins, I get a "failed to connect" message.
From what I can tell, not a single file is actually transmitted. Can anyone
recommend further changes to MS Pub settings, other than the two above, that
would enable the upload to take place through the MSPub application?
One work-around (if I could figure out how to do it) would be to use the
"drag and drop" method of ftp using Explorer. But then, if I understand
correctly, I'm putting a much larger document in the ftp folder, rather than
a "Web Page, filtered" document that publisher creates. Can anybody tell me
how to save as "Web Page, filtered" on my hard drive, so I can drag and drop
an internet-friendly sized file? This would presumably solve my problem as
well.
