upgrades '04:student vs standard?

dollfin

hi,im getting different info on whether the student version is
upgradeable. some say yes, others no, only updateable within a version
ie 11.1-11.9 not ver 12.0.

if stud ver not upgradeable isnt better to buy standard version to b
able to upgrade? or is the cost to upgrade the standaed version more
than the cost of just buying the new student version? in CANADA
standard approx $500, stud $200 if just bought student again , i'd
still b ahead 100$ even if standard update is free?

im wondering if i should exchange student for standard before i install
it.

Hi Dollfin,

I'm not sure that I'm clear on which product you're referring to as you included '04' in your subject line (but I assume you're
talking about the Windows versions?)

MS Student is not the same product as
MS Office 2003 Student and Teacher's Edition.

MS Office 2003 Student and Teacher's Edition does not come in an 'upgrade' package, it is MS Office 2003 Standard Edition, rebranded
and already priced at the level of an 'upgrade' package. Likewise there is not a 2007 Office Home & Student edition 'upgrade'
package, for the same reasons.

At present *Any* MS Office 2007 retail product that has an upgrade package version should recognize the MS Office 2003 Student and
Teacher's Edition as a valid qualifier for moving up to a 2007 Office Suite other than MS Office Home and Student Edition
http://office.microsoft.com/en-ca/suites/FX101754511033.aspx
(although that's a Canadian page the pricing is in U.S. dollars)

Also, if you purchased the 2003 edition after 25Oct check the listing here for Canada to see if you get the 2007 matching edition
for a small fee because of when you purchased it.
