Upgrading an Upgrade

Wanting to know if Microsoft offers any kind of service
whereby I can send in original of older versions of WORD
and OFFICE and receive a full version of an upgrade such
as OFFICE PROFESSIONAL EDITION 2003 at the upgrade price.

I am getting tired of having to install the older version
just to make the upgrade work. Once you reach the point
where you have to cycle through a couple versions to get
to the latest on a new computer, it becomes too much of a
hassle.....especially if your system crashes a couple of
times and you have to reinstall everything.

Hi, JCG.
I am getting tired of having to install the older version
just to make the upgrade work.

Usually, all we have to do is briefly insert the original CD for the
"qualifying" older version of Word or Office into the drive. Just long
enough for the upgrade's Setup to verify that we have the qualifying
version. It is NOT necessary to actually INSTALL the older version. In
other words, while installing the Office 2003 Upgrade, insert your original
Office 2000 CD-ROM - just briefly, less than a minute - and then remove it,
replace the 2003 CD and continue. This should work even if your 2000 was an
upgrade from Office 97; there should be no need to insert the 97 CD again
during the upgrade from 2000 to 2003.

Does this not work in your case?

My original ofice97 cd has a scratch. When I try to
install my office2000 upgrade and put the 97 cd in it
just keeps spinning and nothing. Then I have to abort the
installation. What shuld I do?
