Upgrading from 97 to 2003

Sean

I have several front end databases in Acces 97 -- many
forms and reports and tons of code.

How painful will upgrading to 2003 be? Will I have
rewrite most of my code or is there an upgrade tool?

Thanks!

If you are careful to make certain there are no compile errors in the Access
97 code, there's a very good chance that you'll have no trouble at all
opening the database (be paranoid enough to make a copy first and archive
it) in Access 2003, choosing Convert, and saving it either in the default
Access 2000 file format or in Access 2003 file format. There's a high
probability that you won't need to make any changes at all -- although in
versions newer than Access 97, adherence to some standards has been made
more strict, so there might be a few here and there.

We had problems with nested DAO/UDF's, date and memo
query parameters, "on error resume next", Jet IISAM's,
SQL Server, and some other unusual code. Word also
changed, so there was also some changes to the Word
Automation code. Can't remember having to change a 'form'
or 'report' at all - only unusual code and queries.
