Upgrading from iMac 10.2.8 to the new Macbooks

Version: v.X
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.2 (Jaguar)

Hi,
I'm upgrading from an old iMac running 10.2.8 to one of the new Macbooks. I plan on continuing to use the old iMac. Couple questions:

1. Will I be able to load and use my Office:Mac v.X on the new Macbook? (I primarily use Word.)

2. If I get Office 2008 for the new Macbook will I be able to open Word documents on the iMac that I wrote on the Macbook and vice versa? Or will that only go one way. I.e., I'll be able to translate old docs up but not new docs down?

Thanks,
Will

Depends to a certain extent on which edition of Office X, but at the very
least a single license allows you to install on 1 desktop & 1 laptop using
the same CD Key as long as you only run Office apps on 1 of those 2 systems
at any one time.
2. If I get Office 2008 for the new Macbook will I be able to open Word
documents on the iMac that I wrote on the Macbook and vice versa? Or will that

2008 can open your current files, save back to those files & create/save new
files in the 97-2004 format. You can also download Converters which enable
Office X (10.1.9) to use files saved in the new (OXML) format. The
Converters can be gotten from here:

If you're considering the upgrade, however, it may be worthwhile to at least
get Tiger on the current Jaguar system & upgrade to the same version of
Office on each... Office X is dead in the water & there will be no further
updates, not to mention a number of other advantages in the later versions
Thanks,
Will
