upgrading from trial to already purchased version of Office 2007

A while ago I purchased Office 2007 Professional Plus online, and was using
it on my old laptop. I've just bought a new laptop which came with the 60
day free trial of Office, but I want to put the Professional Plus that I
already bought on there. Do I need to uninstall the trial version first?
The product key I got with the Professional Plus I bought did not work. I
tried to install the Professional Plus but it doesn't seem to have worked, is
this because I need to uninstall the trial first?
