Upgrading from trial to Home/Student edition

My trial version of Office is about to expire. I have a physical copy of
Office Home Student and am wondering if there is an easy way of just
upgrading the copy I have installed. I don't have any apps from the trial
installed that are not part of Student edition and it would make my life much
easier if I didn't have to go thru a complete uninstall of the trial and then
reinstalling and patching the home/student version. Would really appreciate
some advice

Dump the trial version before installing the paid version. It wouldn't hurt
to back your files up first, just incase.

Unfortunately, the received advice is, uninstall the trial version, clear
your Cache, re-boot and install the paid-for version!

Not sure what you mean about clering the cache. Isn't it usually cleared when
you reboot?

No. Clear Temp files.
