upgrading from windows 98

i just bought MSWord 2002 and thought I could upgrade from
Windows 98, but it keeps tellimg me it can't find the
valid qualifying product. what do i need to do now?

Word is not an upgrade from Windows; only Windows is an upgrade from
Windows. For Word 2002 you must have a qualifying version of Word, Office,
or sometimes Works or a competing word processing application or Office
Suite in order to use an upgrade version.
