I bought an upgrade disk for Office Standard Edition 2003, because I had
Works Suite 2006 on my PC.
If this not a typo and you mean Office Standard Edition 2003 and not 2007,
my recall is that Works Suite 2006 is not a qualifying product for Office
2003 upgrade. Works Suite 2006 is a qualifying productg for Office 2007
Standard.
I want to upgrade Word and Excel to 2007 edition,
and I see on the website that I can do this, with Works Suite 2006 - but I
can't find anywhere on the site that tells me how... I can't buy Home and
Student 2007 where I'm living now, abroad, nor can I have software posted.
Is
there a download link anywhere, which would accept an upgrade purchase?
I've
tried to ask Microsft direct, but when I put in my product key, they don't
accept it, which is not increasing my confidence!
If you want to upgrade to Office 2007 Standard Edition, you need to purchase
the Office 2007 Standard Edition upgrade. I do not know where you live. In
US any retail seller of Office 2007 {such Amazon.com or Staples} sell both
the upgrade and non-upgrade version of Office 2007 (even if they have to
order it for you). You may want to go to this site:
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/worldwide/default.aspx
and select your country or region to find your local Microsoft office. They
can tell you if there are any export restrictions of Office 2007 where you
live.
Once you have the physical upgrade disc for Office 2007 Standard.
1. If Works Suite 2006 is installed in your computer, uninstall the version
of Word that was installed as part of the Works Suite 2006.
2. Insert the Office 2007 Standard upgrade disc in your DVD drive (it is a
DVD not CD) and install Office 2007.
3. If Works Suite 2006 is not installed, when you install Office 2007
upgrade, you will be asked for a qualifying product. Just insert the Works
disc in your drive, browse to it so the installer can verify qualified
product. When verified, return the Office disc to the drive and continue.
BTW, you must retain your Works disc in case you need to reinstall.
Notes:
a. If you do not have a DVD drive, either obtain an external drive or
Microsoft will exchange the DVD for CDs.
b. There is some problem with Works 9 as a qualifying product. I Works 2006
is Works 9 {I do not know}, post back and someone will provide a work around
for the problem.
