Upgrading is it worth it??

I have Office 2000 Professional on XP Home (home user).

Is it worth upgrading the whole thing which is expensive or maybe just
Outlook? Any help gratefully accepted, thanks

Why do you want to "upgrade?" I have Office Professional 2003. It
handles all my needs. I have no need to upgrade. I have no idea if you
have any needs or desires that a newer version of Office might help. For
now it all should perform as well as it has been doing in the past.

It is usually best to upgrade when you must or at least when you see an
advantage.

You mentioned Outlook, is there a reason you want to upgrade it?

I would not look for some general improved performance or abilities with
the newer programs or even with the newer Vista operating system.

It really depends on your usage, if what you have works for you, other than
security updates, then?
Outlook2003/2007 doesnt have the data file size limitation that 2k has, I
prefer OL2007 over 2003 that I previously had, Word & Excel 2007 I havent as
yet noticed any 'must haves'

Hi, thanks for your reply. You are quite right, everything works fine so
there doesnt seem to be any point, especially if it doesnt matter if I'm not
"up to date". What about Outlook, are the newer versions not better in terms
of blocking messages etc?

Blocking doesnt overally concern me since I have spam traps at the mail
server end - I never see the 1200/week of junk

I don't think they have changed anything Outlook that would improve
message blocking. If you are just blocking certain people, any version
should do it. If you want to block junk mail, then I suggest a third party
program. I have used MailWasher and it did a good job. Some third party
security systems have a mail blocker program included.
