Thank you. It will not let me uninstall it. Thats why I did the
system
restore and all the other stuff I did as well.
:
Uninstall all versions of Office, reboot, then install the Home and
Student
"Edition.

I downloaded and used the Office Professional trial 2007. Then the
60 days
went by. I uninstalled it thinking I would revert back to what I
had
previously. But no, it didnt. I tried system restore. Then I
downloaded
another trial, which didnt down load--error message: "Setup
controller
encountered problems during install. Please refer to the log files
for
more
information on the errors". My son bought a program, Office Home
and
Student
2007. This program cannot be installed either.
I dont know how to fix this. I have no abilities to open my current
documents or any new ones I receive. Anyone help!?

I seem to have a variation of this issue. I never uninstalled the
trial
Home
and Student version that came with the computer. I just installed
a
Professional Plus and went from there. I just noticed that all
office
updates update both versions. I only want Professional Plus, so
how do I
uninstall Home and Student?

Greetings!
I currently have Office 2007 Standard Trial installed on my
PC.
Now, I
want
to upgrade to Office 2007 Professional Licensed edition.
Are there any caveats in going through this process?
Thanks,
Depends on what you mean by Standard Trial and Upgrade!
If you have not activated with a purchased license key the
Standard
Trial,
you need to totally uninstall it before attempting to install
the
Office
Professional. If the Office Professional is a full version
(not an
upgrade) you can install it after the uninstall of the trial
and
rebooting
the system.
If the Office Professional version is an upgrade license, you
need a
qualifying program (see list of qualifying programs here:
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/suites/FX101754511033.aspx )
You
still
need to uninstall the trial (unless it is converted to a full
version of
Office Standard with a key purchase) and reboot before
installing
the
upgrade version of Office. When the install program asks for
a
qualifying
product, put the CD of the qualifying product in the CD drive.
Thanks for the info LVTravel.
The Standard version is a Trial version which Microsoft
supplied a
product
key good for 60 days.
The Professional Version is a complete version with a licensed
product
key.
Either way, I have only one problem with having to
uninstall/reinstall. I
don't want to have to reset up Outlook
emails/contacts/calendars etc.
I
assume a backup of the PST files are a necessary step?
Thanks again,
Scott M.
The uninstall of the trial should not remove the .pst files but
you
should
save them in another location (backup) just in case the worst
happens.
Otherwise you should have no issue with the uninstall/reinstall
but you
must
uninstall your trial version installation. Good luck.
