Upgrading Question

Confused

I just bought MS Office 2007 Professional and my friend told me that
Microsoft is going to release a new Office sometime this summer. My question
is, if I install the 2007 Professional now, and later when the 2010 version
comes out, and I buy the Standard version, will I still be able to use MS
Access and Publisher 2007? Or will those programs be deleted when I install
the 2010 Standard version?

No. When you install Office 2010, old programs will not be deleted.
You will get an option (like when people installed Office 2007 on Office
2003) to either retain or delete the old programs that are already in
the new version. So, If you buy a standard Version of Office 2010, your
old programs like Access 2007 etc. will remain operative. I have still
kept all my Office 2003 programs with Office 2007 but then I support
students in my college using various versions of applications.

Did you know that you can download Office 2010 beta from Microsoft
website. The download version is licensed to be used until June this
year so it is a good idea to use the beta version if you haven't bought
Office 2007. However, this does not apply to you.

Well I haven't opened the package yet, so I could return it and use the beta
version like you said. Thank you very much for the info. Appreciate it!
