Upgrading to 2007 or 2003

Hello everyone,

I have 2 questions that I hope someone here can help me with:

1. I'm would like to upgrade to Word 2007 (standalone or Office Small
Business). I currently have only Word 2002 installed. I have read the
requirements for an upgrade, but I am paranoid that my Word 2002 may not
qualify as "any MS Office 2000-2007 Program or Suite." Can anyone set me
straight?

2. Can a standalone upgrade be purchased anywhere? The MS Word pricing area
suggests it, but then doesn't take you to a vendor.

I should add that I need this for a transcription platform, and Home &
Student versions of '03 or '07 will not work.

Erika,

Question 1: Word 2002 (aka Word XP) definitely falls into the "any MS Office
2000-2007 Program or Suite" category, and provided that it is a legitimately
licensed version you should have no problem qualifying for upgrade pricing.

Question 2: Unfortunately, I can't offer you much help here. Because of my
location, I'm automatically directed to the Microsoft-Australia site when I
looking for purchasing information. However, this site does list several
retailers, and I know that there are many online retailers as well. I can
only suggest going to your local Best Buys or similar store and enquiring
there.

BTW, you might be hard pressed to find anyone selling Office 2003, so 2007
is probably your only option. And well done for recognising that using the
Home & Student version Word for commercial purposes would be a violation of
the licensing agreement. ;-P

If you read the conditions of use of the Home/Student version it is
difficult to imagine *any* use by this application that is allowable. It is
full of legal double speak and vague terms that are undefined.
