Upgrading to MSOffice Professional Edition 2003

Please help! To begin my running program is MSWindows XP Professional
Service Pack 2. I have MsOffice Standard Edition 2003 downloaded on my
computer and I bought MSOffice Professional Edition 2003 Upgrade to install
so I could use Publisher 2003 and some of the other upgrades. I am not able
to Upgrade for some reason. Am I doing something wrong, should I not be able
to upgrade from Standard to Professional? On the box it says Requires
Windows 2000 or Windows XP and I am but i get a message that says it cannot
locate a previous version of office and there is a previous version. I did
not install all components of the Standard Edition just Outlook and Word
could this be why? Please and thank you for any help or suggestions you have
to offer.

"Previous version of Office" means Office 97, Office 2000, or
Office XP. You cannot use the Upgrade version to change from one
Office 2003 edition to a different Office 2003 edition.

Thankyou for your reply 'garfield-n-odie" I'm confused as to why I could
download MSOffice Standard Edition 2003 and prior to that I had Teacher and
Student version. I have spent so much money trying to upgrade. Could please
tell me what I need to purchase to enable this upgrade? My operating system
is MS Windows XP Pro. gurrrrrrr I really appreciate your help and this is
kind of what I figured but there is so much confusion with MSWindows XP with
the MSOffice XP, yikes.

Office 2003 Professional is available in a Full version (which
does not require a qualifying product for installation) and in an
Upgrade version (which requires one of the qualifying products
listed in the "Upgrade Eligibility" section at
http://www.microsoft.com/office/editions/howtobuy/professional.mspx
).

Publisher 2003 is available as a standalone program that you can
purchase and install alongside your existing Office 2003 Standard
software. See
http://www.microsoft.com/Office/publisher/howtobuy/default.mspx
for more information.

Office 2003 Standard Edition contains the same applications as
Office 2003 Student and Teacher Edition, but there are
differences between their respective End User License Agreements.
Neither of these editions include Publisher 2003.

Office 2003 Standard Edition is available for purchase in full
and upgrade versions. Neither is legally available for download
from anywhere, although you can download a free trial version.
Neither the full version nor the trial version requires a
qualifying product. The upgrade version does require a
qualifying product.

Office 2003 Student and Teacher Edition is available for purchase
only in a full version, although I believe a few computer
manufacturers include a free trial version of the software with
new computers. Neither the full version nor the trial version
requires a qualifying product.

Thank you very informative garfield-n-odie, in my gut I knew I should have
bought the Full Version after the fact, oh well live and learn. I will buy
the Publisher 2003 as a standalone.
