Upgrading to Office 2004 from Office X necessary?

Ell

I am currently using Office X (v.10.1.6) on my G4 PowerMac ( the only
mac in the office). The PC's in the office are being upgraded to
Microsoft Office 2003. Will I have to upgrade my mac to Office 2004 or
will I still be able to read and edit any Word, Excel or Powerpoint
files I receive from any of the PC's with my existing Office X?

thanks for the help!

The file formats for WinOffice 97/00/02/03, and MacOffice 98/01/v.X/04
are identical, so if you can open the WinOffice files now, you'll be
able to after your office switches of Office 2003.

The main exception will be if they're also using Windows Server 2003 and
choose to implement Information Rights Managment, which only works with
Windows Server 2003 and Office 2003. In that case, you'll be unable to
read files protected under DRM (but those that aren't will still be
accessible).
