Upgrading to Outlook 2007 from 2002 Student Office

I currently have 2002 Office (student version). I realize I can't upgrade,
but need to install a new version of office. However, I want to have 2007
Outlook to minimize the spam I'm currently receiving. Can I install full
version of Outlook only (not the suite) and will I still be able to use the
rest of the Office suite I currently have? Thanks.

Yes, but note that some features of mail integration won't work cross
version like Mail Merge from within Word.
