Upgrading to XP. Unable use Word, asks for Product code

I upgraded to Windows XP. When I went to use Word. It
asks to put in Product code. It does not accept XP code
and original Word code is in storage. We are in a holding
pattern in the move process. How can I get Word to work
without the code???
