Upgrading Trial version of Office 2003

I have Office97 Professional Edition on an old computer. I also have a new
Dell computer with a short term (Mar 31 2007) Office 2003 installed. I do
not want all of Office 2007 but was steered there when I tried to buy a key
online. I only want permanent versions of 2003 or 2007 Power Point; Word
and Excel. How can I get these from Microsoft and what will it cost me? If
it is too expensive I assume I can simply install my Office 97 system on the
new computer if I remove it from the old one. Is this correct?
Thanks. Alan Combellack

It depends on whether your Office 97 was purchased with the computer or separately at retail. If purchased with, then you cannot move it to another computer.

Thank you very much. I am off to the Amazon forthwith. I thought you had to
prove that you are a student to get this, at least direct from MS.

You don't have to be a student to get the Home and Student edition but it
cannot be used for commercial purposes. No businesses, including home
businesses.

It turns out that this is not available from Amazon at that price in Canada
so I'll wait awhile and see what happens. Thanks again. Alan C
