I wrote on July 7 asking for help in creating a form that would allow my
customers to upload their audio dictation files to some of the free
space on my remote web site (copy of my original message and response
are below). My host uses a UNIX server. Would it be better if I
transfer my site to a Windows server in order to get the upload form to
work??? HostSave is my current host (UNIX server) and I would transfer
it to their affiliate, WinSave (Windows server).
Another question: Are there any advantages of using a Windows server as
far as using FrontPage features over other types of servers (assuming
both have similiar extensions)??

If your host allows, you can use the FP Upload component, however it is
limited to
files of less
than 1 MB in size. The files would be uploaded to a folder within your
web site
from which you would
have to then download them to your HD.
As far as receiving email from your web site via form, unless you are
already
doing this, may not
work as some host only allow email from a web site to be sent to an
email address
within the web
site's domain, i.e., (e-mail address removed). Also some email services
will not
accept email from a
web site.
You should check with your host to see what option they have available
to allow
your site visitors
to upload files, as server-side scripting solution may be a better
approach then
using the FP Upload
component.

Can someone tell me where I can find a detailed tutorial on how to
create a form that will let my customers upload audio dictation files to
my remote web site plus notify me via e-mail when a customer has
uploaded an audio file. That e-mail would need to tell me the name of
