Upload in HTML Protocol

B

brelade

I have manage to establish a network connect with my web server by "add
Network Location", but with Vista i can only find an ftp:// way of uploading
to my web server with add a network:

My web site requires to be uploaded with HTTP uploading protocol with FPSE,
but when i Secify the location of my website following the on screen prompts,
it will not allow me to input an html address,
below are the examples given from the wizzard during the add network
location process

It gives examples:
1. \\server\share (Share folder)
2. http://webserver/share ; (Web share)
3. ftp://mysite.co.uk (ftp site)

The address i would like to add is: http://breladecockerspaniels.co.uk

When i try to input http://breladecockerspaniels.co.uk ; it returns "the
folder you entered does not appear to be valid, please choose another".

If you know of how to write an http link please let me know.

When it publishes, it says it is publishing html file(s) but when the save
box comes up it save it as an ftp, hence no forms work.

I am using MS Publisher 2007, On vista

Can anyone shed some light on how to upload with vista as a HTML protocol,
not an ftp protocol.

I have posted this question of Vista, but no joy there, i am hoping that
someone has had experience of this problem with pub & vista, as i know that
with forms included with pub you need both FPSE & upload as HTML
Many Thanks

Roger that.
I will work through all provided by you below and get back.

Once i finally get ananswer to Publisher / Vista / http, i will get back and
re-post on this sight as i am sure many have gone to vista out there and also
have forms etc on there sites.
Cheers once again for your point in the right direction
Many Thanks

Have you checked your host's FAQs about how to use FPSE and HTML uploading
protocol with Vista and/or IE7? Did you read how to activate the FPSEs? The
instructions for uploading FrontPage websites should be much the same for
Publisher. I suspect that you messed up in step 2...that is where you
probably enter: http://breladecockerspaniels.co.uk Not,

Unless you are using forms on your website you can use FTP uploading
protocol. If you are using forms HTTP uploading will be required. There is
also a troubleshooting article.
