upload new site/delete old site

I have finally upgraded to FP2003 and have rebuilt my entire site using a
template. Before I upload the new site, I am planning on doing a full FTP
download of the old site as a backup. After I do that, can I just go in and
delete every file on my host and then reinstall the server extensions, then
upload the newly rebuilt site? I don't want to leave any files from the old
web on the host (disk space and bandwidth issues).

Any advice is appreciated.
