Uploading A Redesigned Web Site

JD

I have a Web Site for my company. I've redesigned a Web Site for a client.
How can I show this client their redesigned Web Site, before I overwrite
their old Web Site. Can I upload it on my web Site for them to preview it?

Thank for your time,
JD

I have had this identical issue in two web sites now.
Both sites are hosted on Linux machines, and a sub-web costs an extra $10.
It isn't the $10, but the Microsoft Front Page Extensions do NOT apply to
the subweb, so it is nearly worthless. FTP works but the site does not
display as it will when the extensions are in play.

I would recommend checking with your ISP and verifying that the FP
Extensions would apply to the sub-web as well.

Tom & George,

Thanks for your input. Unfortunately like George say: "FTP works but the
site does not display as it will when the extensions are in play.
Thanks again,
JD

Is that a subweb or sub-domain you are talking about?
If it's a subweb, I would get another host.

Any subweb MUST have FrontPage server extensions, or it would be just
another folder. On the other hand, sub-domains often appear as though
they do not have extensions, since they are usually subwebs within the
root web that are referred to in the form
http://subdomain.example.com. With this URL, FP cannot find the
extensions information in the root web If you accessed them as
http://example.com/subdomain, they will have extensions running
correctly.

Do not use FTP on an extended site - FTP breaks extensions.

You can create a subweb on a Linux box at no extra charge.

example: http://www.yoursite.com/testsite

A subdomain is what your provider is wanting to charging you for.

example http://testsite.yoursite.com

In Frontpage, Create a Folder then convert the folder to a Subweb.
From Frontpage, double click on Subweb folder and it will open up.
This is just like a completely different site.

You can name the folder whatever you want. Once created, you can test it in
real time function.

Hope this helps

JD - If your company website is a FrontPage design and your redesigned
client website is from the same version of FrontPage, you can attached it to
your company website by linking it via an object you have in the company
website. You will have to rename the index page to something else for the
demo to the client. I know, I have done this before.
