Uploading problem

B

Ben

I am trying to publish my files directly from Publisher
2003 for the first time and i've carefully followed the
excellent instructions from davidbartosik.com. I'm using
the FTP procedure described in the tutorial and am using
tripod.com as my host. I've entered my username and
password but unfortunately I get an error message saying
that it was unable to connect to tripod.com and that this
error usually occurs because of incorrect firewall or
proxy server settings. I do have Norton firewall but even
disabling it gives me the same error. I have tried
another host but get the same error message. I have no
problem uploading to tripod.com using CuteFTP. Is there
drawback in not using the upload facility from within Pub
2003.
Thank you

You do not need to upload in Publisher.
Doing so just reduces the steps involved and also you are assured of
uploading ALL the needed files in their correct location.

You are welcome to send me your pub file and all the uploading info for me
to test and try to reproduce your issue. If you review the newsgroup you'll
see I have to do this pretty often and I always identify what the mistake
is.

Even if you don't care to have me do this I would still be interested in
getting your pub file from you. I am currently testing 2003 web sites for
the use of VML. Simply send the pub file to (e-mail address removed)

btw last I knew CuteFTP was identified as a "SpyWare" program. The commonly
used and trusted ftp client is WS-FTP.
