uploading problems

Fuscule

Hi everybody.

I designed a werbsite with Frontpage 2003 and uploaded the site succesfully
in Lycos. URL: http://members.lycos.nl/fuscule/
Now I want to alter some pages but can't get the publish website in FP to
work.
It gives me errormessages after a while
such as:

Quote:

"The server sent a response which Frontpage could not parse. If you are
trying to connect to a Windows Sharepoint Server, check with the server's
administrator to make sure Windows Sharepoint Services is installed
properly."

Or:

Quote:

"The server could not complete your request. Contact Web Server
administrator to make sure that the server has the Frontpage extensions or
Sharepoint Services installed."

After clicking "Details" I get :

Quote:
"502 Proxy error.
Proxy error. The proxy server received an invalid response from an upstream
server. The proxy server could not handle the request
POST/fuscule/_vti_bin/vti_aut/author.exe. Reason: Document contains no data."

A firewall is running on my system, but the first upload succeeded with the
firewall running, so that's obviously not the problem. Tired of trying I used
WT FTP Pro 9.0 to upload my website, but that only worked.partionally.
Anyone knows what to do or can help? Thanx in advance.
Kind regards,
Fuscule

Did you upload via FTP or with http in frontpage. FTP breaks the server
extensions and won't allow you to connect via http: same idea when server
extensions are not installed at all.

You mention your firewalll - be sure it is allowing traffic on the http: port
(the one for browsing the internet - Port 80 I think - this is also needed for
the http: publish function.

You have corrupted the extensions by using FTP, have your re-install them, then do not use FTP.

You must contact your host to do it.

According to my host (Lycos Tripod.nl) are all frontpage extensions
installed. So is says on the webpage, that is. I tried to download Microsoft
Windows Sharepoint Services but trying to install i got te message that i had
to install Microsoft Internet Information Server IIS 4.0 or greater. So I
downloaded IIS version 6.0 but that file disappeared somewhere on mu HD and I
don't know how to install it. Trying to install Microsoft Windows Sharepoint
Services after that, I still got the same message: i had to install Microsoft
Internet Information Server IIS 4.0 or greater. I'm beginning to think the
whole thing is growing over my head, so this forum is my last hope. By the
way: Tripod has a tool: WebFTP. This tool can upload files and it actually
did, but the pictures are missing, although they are on the pages on my HD.
Perhaps you could take a peek at http://members.lycos.nl/fuscule/ and look at
the html code? I'm desperate at the moment. Thanks in aDVANCE.

You can not install the extensions on the remote hosted server, only the host can do this. WSS is
only installable if the server is Windows 2003 IIS6. Lycos must like runs Unix/Linux Servers so WSS
would never be available. Also is not possible to download IIS6 (legally)

IIS6 is only available if you have Windows 2003 server installed, then you can install IIS6 via
Add/Remove Windows Component, then you can download and install Windows SharePoint Services.

Have you actually contact Lycos and request a re-install of the extensions for your account?
