This is still a host issue or a limitation of your internet connection provider on how many bytes
you can transfer outbound during a session.

That makes sense as well and I will contact them to see what can be done.
However, some of the larger files do upload and then all of a sudden
everything stops and I get the error message that the server closed the
connection.

Your web host would have to increase the maximum file size upload default from 1 MB.

That does sound logical and I do have some files that contain several pics
that total more than 1MB. Any way around this?
