On the first page of each chapter of my book I have the chapter number,
spaced and in UPPERCASES (e.g. CHAPTER 1) that I want to appear on the header
of each page from that chapter, too, but in Title Case (e.g. Chapter 1).
To reference the text from the first page to the Header, I use one of the
following methods:
1. Insert > Field > Links and References > StyleRef > Un-check “Preserve
formatting during updatesâ€,
OR
2. Insert > Cross Reference
Even tough I have defined the Header Style and all the text in the Header is
correctly formatted in terms of font and size (and is not even spaced, which
is good), the Chapter 1 transforms itself back to CHAPTER 1 every time I
reopen the document. It looks like the possibility of choosing UPPERCASE or
Title Case is missing on the trajectory of using one of the two above
methods.
To come around my problem, I did the following: after I got the UPPERCASE
text in the Heather, I select it and Format > Change Case > Title Case. I
would say the problem is solved, but is not. Every time I reopen the
document, the text in the Header is in UPPERCASES again (CHAPTER 1), and not
in Title Case as I want it. Here I go again.
Anybody has any idea how I can solve this problem ? I was thinking that
maybe when I define the Header Style I could check a box somewhere and force
the text to stay in Title Case, but I cannot find such an option.
Many thanks for any help and ideas !…….
