I'm trying to use the A2K Upsizing Wizard to upsize my tables to SQL Server.
When I try to run it, all of my tables are skipped, so nothing gets upsized.
I'm posting here because I think my problem may be security related.
My app users RWOP queries with all permissions revoked on the backend and
workgroup security
The user/password for SQL Server is not the same as the owner for the Jet
backend. So suspecting a permissions problem, I have for the time being
created the user/password in my backend that is the same as that being used
by SQL Server. At least I think it is the same because I'm using Windows XP
home edition and not Professional. I think I had to add the domain name to
the SQL Server logon to be able to start the "local" version. But when you
look at the Security tab in SQL Server the domain name is not included.
Still without the domain name you get an error.
With Jet and workgroup security, I couldn't get the domain name to be added
to the User name:
Example: HP20005\UserName
Logging on to Access with UserName, who now has full permissions on the
backend tables, I imported all of the backend tables to a new Access mdb. I
now tried to upsize these tables in the new Access mdb thinking that it
should work. Again, I got the same result as before. All tables were
skipped.
Could someone walk me through how to upsize tables in a backend where all
permissions have been revoked and workgroup security is used. Because I
don't want to reveal the Owner's UserID, the UserName used for SQL Server is
not the same as the Owner ID for the backend tables in Jet.
Advice, suggestions, etc are greatly appreciated as I don't understand why
this wouldn't work.
Thank you.
