Urgent.. Data different in cube than in project

H

hinesa

Hello,

I have a project that was created with a start date of 3/4/07 and a finish
date of 11/14/07. The baseline work and the work values are 1000.75. This
project has been published and re-published to the server. The values in
Portfolio Analyzer are 1568 for both work and baseline work. What I am
doing wrong???

Hello hinesa,

And the cube has been recalculated since the last changes?

Thanks for your help. Can you help me out a little more, how do I find the
Analysis Services view?

Thanks,

Ava

okay, you need to have some admin privaledges to check this, and the menus
are different if you are using 2003 or 2007; however the principle is the
same.

1. Find out the name of the cube you are building. this can be found in
the OLAP or DATA ANALYSIS area within the Admin/Server Settings page of PWA.
2. Edit the OLAP/DATA ANALYSIS view that you are having issues with, and
check that the cube name in 1. above is the same as in the view definition
that you are currently editing. If it is the same, you have some other data
issue. If it is different, change it in the view, and then recheck.

Thanks again Ben. I followed your steps and the cube name is Analyis and the
Ad Hoc view is using that cube. Do you any suggestions as to what might be
wrong with the data in the project. Do you know if the when the cube is
rebuilt, it cacluates fields, such as Baseline work or does it just use what
was created in project?

It doesn't do any recalculations. Make sure the there are no cut off dates
for when the cube is being built, ie build for all projects across all dates.
The data should be the same. Is this issue just for one project or all of
them?

This is the case for just a few projects. I can not see anything in the
projects that should cause this to happen. I need to identify what is being
done to create this issue so that we can avoid it. Thanks for the
clarification on the cube process. I HOPED that it was re-calculating, so
that I could go off on a search for some flag that was set
inadvertentley...sigh... I'll check the next step. PLease let me know if you
have any other suggestions.

Have you been able to find out what was causing the inaccurate report with
baseline work in the data analysis? I am having the exact same problem where
the project has baseline work listed but the data analysis has it listed as
0h. I checked the cube and view settings and evey thing else i can think of.
Just like you this problem only seems to be happening on select projects but
i am unable to determine any similarity amongst them. This also only seems
to be happening with baseline work because all of the other fields are
reporting correctly.

Thanks,
Sam
