URGENT... HELP!... WEB SITE FILE DELETED after deleting pages

S

Stevan

I am in a panic! Tonight, I worked on improving my site by deleting some
pages which, of course have links on them. While working with the file
opened, everything worked beautifully (all hyperlinks adjusted fine), until
I saved and closed the file. Hours later I tried to open it up and the
message that I got was "Cannot Open the File"!!!! No matter how many times
I tried to open, it did not work! What can I do to get my web site file
back??? Dave, let me know if it is possible to send you the file as an
attachment so that you can see if it can be opened. I am DESPARATE for
assistance as this is an extremely valuable file for me. Please help!

To quote Mary Sauer:

"You could get lucky, Publisher may have created a temporary file.
Type %temp% in the address bar in Windows Explorer. Find any file with a pub
prefix, replace the .tmp extension with a .pub extension."

I don't have Pub 2002, so sending it to me won't help. Sorry...

I have 2002, but if the poster can't open it, I seriously doubt I could. I will
try however if he sends the file to:

Stevan sent me his file, I opened it with no problem. I re-saved it and sent it
back, he still can't open it. I am looking into solutions.

Mary,

Just a thought - did you get any messages about a font or image or other
resource missing? If so, his could be corrupt. (Keeping fingers crossed!).

Hi Mary,

I did manage to open the file, apparently after you have saved it in
Publisher 2003. I have no idea why it would not open for me originally and I
also tried to open it on several different computers unsuccessfully. Thank
you Mary and others who have contributed comments and offered assistance for
this issue. You guys are extremely valuable to us users of Microsoft
Publisher and I thank you for being there for us!!!

I will try deleting one or two pages again of the web site and see what
happens. If the problem re-occurs I may need to return to the forum for
additional help :)
