Urgent : Hyperlink in MS Word for Mac G5

I am trying to add a hyperlink in MS Word. I select text for hyperlink
then Ctrl+Click and click Hyperlink.
In the window that opens, I put the webpage to be opened in the Link
to textbox and display text in the Display textbox.

Now when I click on the hyperlink, I get the error: 'Cannot open the
page .... . Cannot locate the Internet server or proxy server.'

Check that the URI quoted in the error message matches the URI you thought
you entered, character for character, including the case of the letters.

Paste the URI into your browser and make sure that your browser can retrieve
it.
