Urgent need of office help

A user is using office 2k,
after she has loaded a powerpoint file,
she cannot open any Excel file.

It keeps asking her to insert Office SR1 disk,

She is on her way journey with NB and does not have an
Office CD on hand,

How can it be fixed? Will update SP3 helps?

Loading a normal PowerPoint file into PowerPoint should not have this
impact on the machine. Something else has broken things:

1. was the PPT file check for computer virus before loading?
2. has the machine been scanned for virus and/or spy programs that may
have affected the machine's ability to open Excel files?
3. what is meant by "can't open Excel"? What is the exact error message?
4. does this problem with Excel happen on all files, or just one file?
is the person opening these files via Explorer or via Excel?

I think this occurs when you have run Office Update. There is a patch or
something for Excel 2k and you need the original disk to apply the patch.
