urgent - Office 2003 - Outlook cannot connect to Exchange

S

Shan McArthur

Hello,

I have installed Office 2003 (RTM) and can no longer use outlook against my
Exchange 2000 Server. I have tried everything that I can think of including
deleting my profile completely and starting from scratch. There is nothing
wrong with my Exchange account as I can still access email using another
computer. I upgraded from Office 2000 to 2003 with no installation of XP or
any beta Office software.

Has anyone else experienced this problem? Are there any ideas as to things
that I can do to attempt to resolve these problems? MSDN will not be
staffed to support Office 2003 until October 1.

Thanks,
Shan McArthur

are you getting any errors?

one fairly common problem is the rpc keys are missing - see if these keys
are present on your machine:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Rpc\ClientProtocols]
"ncacn_np"="rpcrt4.dll"
"ncacn_ip_tcp"="rpcrt4.dll"
"ncadg_ip_udp"="rpcrt4.dll"
"ncacn_http"="rpcrt4.dll"

I ended up reinstalling Office 2003 a number of times to no avail,
uninstalling it, reinstalling Office 2000, then uninstalling Office 2000 and
installing Office 2003 again. FINALLY! I can now connect to my Exchange
2000 Server.
