Urgent: SharePoint team services 2003 and Project 2000

J

Judy

Urgency.... if I can't get this resolved my clients may scrap sharepoint.......

with other apps like word, excel, pt, sp team services 03 is having no
problems working with office 2000. Project though is giving us a difficult
time of it. One client keeps getting into a loop of having to use ctl alt
delete to get out of the application no matter what steps are taken to close
the app when opened from sharepoint using the click on title method to view
only. In explorer view same thing
another client from same company same image burn get caught in this loop
sometimes. Others have no problems opening in view only

On one is able to open in "edit in mode"

Can anyone help?

This may be a deal breaker whether we go with SharePoint.

Are you using any Service packs with Sharepoint Services? If so which one
are you using

I am assuming there are no issues with Project saving and opening projects
to a local drive or file share

Can you save a project in Project 98 format and open where 2000 format is an
issue?

I am looking at other cases that might help on this issue... please let me
know answers to above and I will get back to you

Why are you supporting this configuration?
It dosen't work, Apples and oranges. Or in this case, rotten apples
which is the world of XML.

Hi Chris, thanks for getting back to me quickly really do need this help....
loaded service pack 2 and still did not solve problem
and clients have no problems working with project on local hard drive
strange you should bring up the 98 format, because before service pack 2
when I tried with Off 03 for some reason sharepoint pointed to type project
98.mpp instead of project.mpp and I was getting error msgs. when I brought
down to my hard drive and changed the type my problem was resolved. But the
other clients were not able. when I explained what I did to resolve my
problem there was resistence to users having to resave the documents..... but
I am going to save a project to the type 98.mpp and will get back to you with
definate results.
look forward to hearing from you

Hi Chris, I had a user test and they were not able to open in "edit in mode"
even when I changed the type to proj 98.mpp

What patches, services packs have been applied to the Project 2000 clients

Is there a difference between the Project client that can open Projects and
the others ..

Sorry I thought we were in the Server newsgroup.
I've got nothing to add as I'm not familiar with using
Sharepoint just as a document library.
The apples and oranges comments comes in with respect to
the Project Data Services and classes involved in office11
which rely on XML.

If I may follow this out with Chris, he is asking good questions and I feel
confident he can solve this for me. I would post there also, but Mr. Walsh
frowns on that because I was dressed down by him already for doing just that.

I will look at FAQ number 24 as I am sure Chris will.
Thank you for sharing

Hi Chris, sorry late getting back to you.... SP2 on server
clients are autoupdated we do not have option of updating ourselves but when
I had a user do a scan anyway there weren't any project updates needed.
and there is consistencies and differences between users
no user w/o can use "edit in" for project
some users can click to view while others get caught into a loop that they
cannot get out of unless crtl alt del used.
all have standard co burn
