Urgent task update

Manmeet Chaudhari

Currently we have setup that PM has to accept the task updation sent by
resources. We want to automate this.
As resource updates his task the schedule should get updated. I have
checked the rule setting option.
But is there any other setting because by setting rules PM has to run the
rules each time.

Can we avoid this manual acceptance of task updates by PM or manual running
rules by PM?

I know there is a global permission for approve timesheet for resources and
timeheet approval which i have set to disable

Any suggestion is welcomed

This is not possible. The project manager has to be at least minimally
involved in the updating process. The closest that you can come to update
automation is for each manager to create one or more Rules for accepting
task updates. Do know, however, that even with Rules, the manager must
still click the Run Rules Now button to process the task updates. Hope this
helps.

Dale, I may be confused here. I understood the option of "Set rules for
automatically accepting changes" on the left side of the Update screen to
mean that I can set up a situation where for one particular project the new
task creation and delegation can happen without PM involvement.

I have set this up for one project but still find that I must log in and run
updates manually as before. So, what does this feature do? I read the stuff
you have on it in 'Managing Enterprise Projects' starting on page 199 but
other than the fact that it will pull just these tasks out of a much larger
list of tasks ready to be updated I guess I don't see a need for this (as it
is currently designed).

Am I missing something?

Yes, you can create Rules to update a batch of tasks updates, but you still
must click the Run Rules Now button. Therefore, the Rules will not run
without the intervention of the PM. Hope this helps.
