URL displays instead of image alt text if image is inside anchor tag

Outlook 2003 and HTML email - alt text for images inside anchor tags do not display in html email - the URL for the anchor tag displays in its place. Is this by design?

does it say 'right click here to download images, outlook blocked the
content for your protection'? if so, yes, it's by design and you can click
in the image placeholder to show them. I never see the url though - just the
note telling me it was blocked...

Do you see the image placeholder or does it look like plain text messages?
if plain text, you may have outlook configured to not display html. click in
the infobar to enable html per message.

In this case, I trust the sender so the images display - I'm just talking about the hover text - the URL of the anchor tag is displayed in the hover text instead of the images alt text - was wondering if that was by design - The exact same HTML email viewed in MSN 8/9 client or IE when going to hotmail.com correctly display the alt text when I hover over those images. Thanks.

oh... ok, I believe it's by design. I haven't noticed it on embedded images
that aren't linked to a web page, but any link in an html message will
display the web address the link points to, it's considered a security
measure.

I had a feeling this was a security feature and makes sense to me. Thanks for your help!
