Usage Reports

In FrontPage, when I click View -> Reports -> Usage -> etc. I get the
message "There si no usage data available for this web, because it has not
been published to a server that supports usage analysis."

So this leads me to the questions:

What needs to be installed on the server so that usage data becomes
available to me? And is it a big thing to ask my host to install this?

If this is not possible then what other options are available to me to
garner usage information? (At the moment I have a few hit counters on a few
of the key pages but each one is generated manually by the host and is
laborious and time consuming to maintain and get report back figures on.)

Thanks

Hi, guy:

Usage reports are exclusive to an IIS server. For more information, see

Hi Tom,

Thanks for the answer and the links - interesting reading.

I subsequently contacted my web host and discovered that the web is hosted
on Unix servers and as such that feature isn't available to me.

How would I go about collecting Usage Stats from this point forward
considering that I'm using FP2002 as a client and my web is hosted on a Unix
server running FP extensions? Are there other utilities that I could use?

Regards,
Guy

Does your hosting account come with a web masters Control Panel??
If so there "should" be a whole bunch of usage reports already enabled.

Yes it does and I look at that from time to time but it's pretty much a
summary. I saw the amount of detail the FP2002 offers and was looking for
something like that. For example hit counters on every page.

I've placed a few of the host's hit counters on my key pages but it's a
laborious process to keep track of day to day usage... Unless someone can
point me to a link that gives tips about this sort of thing...

Thanks
