Use a watermark in one section only

Using Word 2002. In a multi-section document, how can I use a watermark in
one section only? I thought I could open the section header, and then do
Format>Background>Printed Watermark, but after doing so, the watermark
appeared in all sections, not just the targeted section.

Insert the watermark, open the header, then cut the graphic to the clipboard
(CTRL+X). Unlink the headers between the sections and paste into the
required section.

Actually, if the watermark is in all the sections and you cut it from just
one, you'll probably have accomplished nothing. Instead, copy it from one,
go back to Printed Watermark and choose No Watermark (and hope that actually
removes it from all sections), then go to the header of the desired section
(unlinked as Graham describes) and paste it there.

Alternatively, unlink the headers and then delete the watermark from all the
sections where you don't want it.

I should have mentioned that all the section headers (and footers) were
unlinked before I inserted the Watermark---I clicked off the "Same as
previous" button on the Header and Footer toolbar for each of the 100
sections. When I then inserted the Watermark and it appeared in all 100, I
exited the file without saving, so the Watermark was not in any section as I
wrote my original query, nor is it in any now. Any further suggestions will
be appreciated.

P.S. For two days clicking on the two (standard) links in the
(e-mail address removed) e-mail alerting me to your responses produced only a
blank white page---with the Microsoft.com URL in the address window. Has
anyone else experienced this phenomenon? Also, due to this being our busy
season at work, my manager cut off Internet access for my entire dept., so I
have to wait until I come home to check for responses. What I what to convey
here is that my delayed responses to your offerings is not due to inattention
or lack of caring. You folks have helped me tremedously in this and previous
projects.

Okay, here's a way forward, then. Insert the watermark again. View the
header in any section and Copy the watermark. Then Undo to remove the
watermark. Go to the header of the section where you want it and Paste.

I'm sorry for your problems with the Web site; they are, unfortunately, not
atypical.
