Use Ctrl+Y to repeat last formatting action

I depend on Ctrl+Y in MS Word when I want to repeat formatting actions
several times. This action isn't working for me in PowerPoint, and I don't
find a way to customize keystrokes. Am I missing something? If so, please
tell me how to access the Ctrl+Y functionality. Thanks

Margaret,
Strange, works normal here in PPT 2003. Have you tried using F4 as an
alternative?

Luc,

I realize now that I'm attempting to use CTRL+Y to apply the same formatting
to shapes, instead of text. Seems that it should work with shapes as well as
text...but maybe not. Have you had any success with CTRL+Y and shapes?

I really appreciate your assistance! :)

Margaret,
No to the best of my knowledge it does not work on shapes.
There is the format painter button of course next to the paste button,
select the shape, click or doubleclick the format painter button and apply
once or many times on other objects.
You can also add two commands to any toolbar, Tools - customize - Commands
tab - format category - there should be two commands in there, you can
easily recognize them they have a pipette in the icon. These should let you
copy the style of a shape from one shape to the other.
