Use of Memory Stick for OneNote between 2 computers

and tend to multi-task wherever I am and need to have OneNote both at my
homeoffice and work office. . . without lugging my laptop around. Is there
any way to use a USB memory stick to transport my OneNote files to use on the
various computers via the USB port. It would make my life a lot easier.

I don't mind purchasing two copies of OneNote, but I would rather not.

Any suggestions?

Search back for my discussion of SureSync software. In your case you
would have to install it on all the involved PC's and sync between them
and the memory stick.

The license allows you to install it on a desktop and laptop as long as
you are the only one using them.

I've done that frequently - you can either locate your default My Notebook
folder on the memory stick or just create a new folder on the memory stick
and open it from there. Works fine.

Ben . . . Thank you.

If I copy the entire My Notebook folder from Laptop to my Memory Stick, does
this copy all the defaults, settings, stationery I downloaded, etc. at the
same time?

Is there anything else I need to copy/tranfer to the Memory Stick so that
there is virtually no difference in my setup between my laptop and my desktop?

I am beginning to really enjoy the power and versatility of OneNote. It is
quickly changing from a new toy to a needed tool.

Thank you.

I also synchronize three other files.

The content of the folder:

C:\Documents and Settings\[YourProfileName]\Application Data\Microsoft\OneNote

contains 2 files:
1) Preferences.dat
2) Toolbars.dat

As the names imply, they contain customization settings of toolbars, and
preferences (for example: Note Flags).

I also synchronize the file:

3) C:\Documents and Settings\[YourProfileName]\Application
Data\Microsoft\Office\OneNote11.pip

Thank you so much for posting this. I just got a new laptop and totally
freaked out when I realized that I'd lost my fairly complex set of customized
Note Flags. I grabbed the toolbar and preferences dat files and my customized
note flags were immediately restored. Again, thank you for saving me from
trying to recreate.

Does anyone know of a fast way to print out the list of Note Flags. The only
way I can figure it out is to dedicate a page and "hand enter" each one.

BTW, I didn't copy the PIP file. What does it contain? Is it required?

I've started using SyncToy to backup my preferences and toolbar.

Thanks again,
G

To print a list of note flags, use note flag summary, set the scope to cover
the range you want (everything from current page to entire notebook), then
use "create summary page". Print that. If you don't want all the note flag
types, collapse the list showing those types in the summary pane and they
will not be added to the summary page you create. Also look at "show only
unchecked items"

The PIP file containes your toolbar usage pattern. If you delete it, Onenote
will forget what buttons and menus you like to use a lot and which ones you
never use.
