Use of office icons

Hi. I'm a developer on a website. We've got some links to
some office documents here and instead of a plain
hyperlink, I'd like to put in a word/excel icon instead.
Is this allowed, or does it infringe on some
copyright/trademarks...?

And if it is allowed, can I got official bitmaps/jpegs
from microsoft or can I just use paint shop pro and cut
out the icon from my desktop or the application's window..?

Thanks a lot!

Firstly - thanks Mary for such a prompt response!

I have seen that page before, but it talks about press
agencies and journalists - which my web site isn't one of.
So I had a look under the general Microsoft Trademark
Guidelines and they are a bit vague. It says:

"Do not use the Microsoft Corporate logo, Windows logo, or
any other Microsoft logos, symbols, or icons on or in
connection with products, packaging, manuals,
promotional/advertising materials, or Web site for any
purpose except pursuant to an express written trademark
license from Microsoft."

So if I want to place a word icon on my webpage, do I have
to get written permission or can I use a word icon
followed by the ® or TM as if I had just
written "Microsoft Word ® document"...?

The Logo Programs page has some rather large generic
office images, but I'm hoping to use a different icon for
word docs and another icon for excel spreadsheets. Is that
even allowed..?

Thanks again for any replies!
