Use of Visio over a Word file.

I use VISO on a Word file. I have chosen to use a certain bullet style in
Visio but when I close Visio and view the word file the chosen bullet style
change.

For whatever character I addded or change in Visio, a new bullet character
appears when Word file is view. Is there a setting I need to make to avoid
this problem?

can't repro your issue in the following way
whether I insert a word object in visio
or insert a visio object in word
copy and paste a textblock from visio to word works equally well

but if I create a style in my word ocument with a specific bullet style that
I can repro the problem but that is logical you have defined a bullet style
and when you add a chunk of text with another bullet than you have a
conflict

in this case I would add another style to you word document and define for
that style the bullet style that you use in visio
now when click outside the box select the embedded text and apply the style
that way the visio's bullets are preserved
