Use only Administrative Time but not Timesheets

Hi,
We are migrating to PS2007, and we decided that we don't want to use
Timesheets, just My Tasks view. But We would like to use the Approve
administrative time workflow for the vacations. Do we need to use Timesheets
in order to use the Plan Administrative Time and all the approve process? Is
there a way to disable other options of Timesheets like add new lines, or
imprt from tasks, etc...

Thank you in advance!

Unfortunately it is not possible without custom work to disable the add new
lines and many other features of the timesheets. The best you can do is set
the timesheet creation mode to "No prepopulation" under PWA>Server
Settings>Timesheet Settings and Defaults>Default Timesheet Creation Mode.

I believe that with this setting, you will still have admin line items
populated and only those lines populated. You could then also use the plan
admin time feature. But again, an inquisitive resource could go and attempt
to add lines very easily.

Thank you Jonathan once again for your prompt reply!
I will have a try to see how does it go with that setting. We are still
wonder if it is really a good option not to use Timesheets. We would like our
resouces to insert 40 hour per week and using only th My Tasks and not
Timesheet will make it very dificult to insert hours and verify that 8 hour
per day are inserted, with Timesheet due to their layout presentation and the
totals it is much easier... But on the other hand if we use both, people will
have to import hours from Timesheets to Tasks and submit both. I heard that
SP1 will come with a feature that will do the syncronization in a automatic
way but not sure if it is just a rumour, hope not...

Yes, it is unfortunate and I think you will find it to be very difficult to
juggle and validate hours between the timesheets and the tasks.

The only other recommendation I have is to disable timesheets and use
project plans to represent your administration time. I know that is not
ideal either and does not allow for resources to plan their admin time.
